LOS ANGELES -- A Los Angeles police officer shot and killed a man who allegedly lunged at him with a knife Tuesday morning in Hollywood, authorities said. Officers had approached the man -- who was lying on the ground -- to check on his well-being when he allegedly lunged at them with a knife and stabbed one of them. The officer's injuries were not life-threatening. The shooting occurred at about 4 a.m. in the 1400 block of Curson Avenue, said Los Angeles police Officer Kate Lopez of the Media Relations office.
