All About Palmetto Cops, Inc.

In 1997, Charleston area law enforcement officers were introduced to the Charleston Cop Message Board. This online board was managed by an anonymous police officer who was only known as RealCPD. The message board closed after a little more than a year of service. In 2001, RealCPD returned with an improved message board; however, the forum ended in 2004.

With the closing of the RealCPD message board, the Lowcountry law enforcement community lost a valuable tool. While the board never reached its potential, it brought forth many solid discussions and opened the eyes of citizens and officers.

In an effort to create a true online community for law enforcement officers from around the Lowcountry, LowcountryCops.com was born in early 2005. The intent of this community is not to provide a forum for bashing or name calling, but to bridge the gap between line officer, supervisor, command staff and citizen.

During 2005, Lowcountry Cops grew exponentially. With this growth, the LowCop management team decided to take the plunge and create similar communities throughout the regions of South Carolina – Midlands, PeeDee, and Upstate. In addition to regional communities, a state-wide umbrella site, Palmetto Cops, was also designed.

These regional communities are designed as user-friendly forums. Heated discussion and good natured humor is heartily encouraged; however, all postings must be within the forum’s guidelines. Reading the topics and threads do not require membership. However, before posting a reply or a new topic, you will be required to register with a valid email address. Free email accounts provided by Yahoo!, Hotmail or GMail are welcome.

In 2009, the staff made a strategic decision to combine the regional communities and promote the single Palmetto Cops brand. This enabled the reduction of costs and improved marketing.
